Aliyyah-Begum Nasser
Operations Director of AVC Training and Askham Village Community
Aliyyah is the second generation in her family to lead Askham Village Community. She has overseen the development of Askham from an elderly home to a thriving community of specialist homes. Motivated by enabling organisations and individuals to reach their full potential Aliyyah enjoys her spending time at Askham ensuring all staff and residents reach the best quality of life they can achieve. She supports her teams to balance operational quality with excellent outcomes for patients.
Prior to this, Aliyyah was a Consultant at Bain & Company, primarily working on organisational strategy and change across a number of industries.
Aliyyah has a strong involvement in voluntary work through her faith community, the Shia Ismaili Muslims. She also sits on the Trustee Board of Maslaha, a London-based charity seeking to change and challenge the impact of current negative discourse on Muslim communities.
She holds a degree in Philosophy, Politics, & Economics from Worcester College, Oxford.
Michelle Barker
HSC Training & Development, QCF Assessor
Training Manager, Michelle, has spent over 30 years’ in the care sector and as a leading industry Trainer. The two have always gone hand-in-hand for Michelle, who now brings her extensive knowledge and on-the-job experience to life for the benefit of those she trains at AVC.
A registered Dementia Champion, Michelle is skilled in Training Programme Design, Delivery, Coaching, Training Needs Analysis and QCF Assessing. Inspired by Askham’s mission – to become a centre of excellence for training, in the local community and beyond – Michelle now heads up the state-of-the art, on-site training facility. Michelle also is a Speak Up Guardian, supporting healthcare workers to speak up when they feel that they are unable to in other ways.
Since joining the team at Askham, Michelle has proudly guided over 250 people through various courses, including Moving and Handling, First Aid, Infection Control, Safeguarding and End of Life.
